RUSTEEL officials received positive report of Sinosteel Jilin Carbon graphite electrodes trial batch testing by Russian Sulinsky metal factory STAKS. The trial batch was supplied by the trading company a month earlier.

The supplies of materials for steelmaking division manager O.Olenev said, “the electrodes supplied by RUSTEEL were successfully used on the steel plant. According to production engineers of Sulinsky metal factory, the quality and physical and technical performance of the electrodes completely satisfy requirements, and the plant is willing to consider further deliveries”.

In April 2008, RUSTEEL supplied STAKS with a trial batch of 400 mm graphite electrodes produced by Sinosteel Jilin Carbon of China. The Russian steelmaker carried out testing of the batch in order to determine performance data of the electrodes and to compare with other suppliers.

The average electrodes rate of the trial batch was 3.8 kg/t, which makes the Chinese electrodes competitive with those domestically produced. In addition, the electrodes completely satisfy the requirements to the packing.

After obtaining the testing results, the production engineers of the Russian plant recommended to use the electrodes produced by Sinosteel Jilin Carbon with increase of supply volumes. In addition, the plant proposed RUSTEEL to consider the possibility of graphite electrodes of larger volumes.

The supply of electrodes produced by Sinosteel Jilin Carbon was carried out by the new division of RUSTEEL company, its aim is to promote best steel and auxiliary products on the markets of China and Russia, to strengthen trading relations between the steel industries of the two countries.

Sinosteel Jilin Carbon is the largest producer of graphite electrodes in China as well as in the region, and one of the four largest producers in the world. The company takes leading positions on the Chinese market, and supplies its products to domestic major steel producers, such as Baosteel, WISCO, TISCO and others.

Sulinsky metal factory STAKS, located in Rostovsky region, is a part of industrial group "MAIR".
