Company history

RUSTEEL company was established in 2002 with direct participation of Far Eastern branch of Novolipetsk Steel OJSC. Skeleton staff of the company which came here from NMLK-DV already had long-term practical experience of metal trade organization in Far-Eastern region and countries of South-East Asia.

From the outset RUSTEEL divided into two parallel directions: trade in metal-roll in RF and trade in metal-roll in PRC and South-East Asia.

History of export direction began as early as in 1994 with sales of electric steels to the market of PRC on the basis of Far-Eastern branch of NMLK OJSC – NMLK-DV. And in 2002 when liberalization of import market of China began RUSTEEL company already independently entered the Chinese market with products made in Russia.

Since 2002 till 2005 RUSTEEL company was actively creating network of metal processing centres in domestic market and strengthening its leadership position among metal traders of Far Eastern region. Representative offices of company were opened in Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Ussuriisk, Nakhodka. In 2007 RUSTEEL company successfully entered the market of Siberia by opening its branch in Novosibirsk city.

Availability of own extensive infrastructure enables the company to meet needs of its ultimate consumers to the fullest extent and as quick as possible guaranteeing wide assortment of high-quality products and stable prices.

At the same time RUSTEEL company is gaining ground in the markets of PRC and South-East Asia performing deliveries and technical support of products manufactured by Novolipetsk Steel OJSC. In 2005 RUSTEEL company opened its branch in Beijing and became the first foreign company which received permission to independently import and sell electric steels in the domestic market of PRC. Next year representative offices in two more Chinese cities – Shanghai and Zhuhai – were opened.

In 2004 RUSTEEL company signed strategic agreements with ultimate consumers of PRC – leading manufacturers of transformers, electric generators, compressors, conditioners; among them were such well-known brands as TBEA, Sanyo, Midea, Sunten, Shengyang Electric Machinery.

Active development in the foreign markets resulted in beginning of supplying high-quality Asian steel to Russian market. In 2006 RUSTEEL company made a number of strategic agreements with Japanese companies YODOGAWA STEEL WORKS, LTD. and MITSUI&Co. Moscow LLC. In early 2007 with RUSTEEL company acting as agent of transaction NMLK and TBEA companies signed five-year agreement on supply of transformer steel to TBEA corporation for the amount of 460 mln. US dollars.

As for domestic market, RUSTEEL is the first Far-Eastern company affiliated in Russian Union of Metal Products Suppliers (RUMPS) as a sign of recognition of its achievements, stability, up-to-dateness and reliability. RUSTEEL has been the member of RUMPS since 2005. Head of business direction “Trade in metal-roll in RF” of RUSTEEL company – Patsvald Maxim Arturovich – is a member of Board of RUMPS and head of Far-Eastern branch of RUMPS.

RUSTEEL company has been maintaining close long-term contacts with leading manufacturers of metal-roll in Russia and abroad: largest companies – Amurmetall (Russia), Uraltrubstal (Russia), Evraz (Russia), TMK (Russia), Mitsui (Japan), Yodogawa Steel (Japan), Hyundai Steel (Korea) – have chosen RUSTEEL company as its regional representative.

RUSTEEL company is creating consolidated professional team paying much attention to employees’ development. Around 15% of profit is spent on personnel retraining annually.

In the context of program of federal distribution network development from 2009 till 2015 RUSTEEL company is preparing to open branches in the largest cities of RF – Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Saint-Petersburg.
